Telling

for a time

we live

in time

I

sink into

the afternoon

light

belongs

here

where we begin –

far from

where we end

night simplifies

one day –

as if

I never was

light returns

where

it lingered

earth

embraces

us

two hands –

so little

for so much

untouched –

a star

sky

as high as

yesterday

listen –

birds

are speaking

cardboard boxes –

my daughter

packs her childhood

each afternoon

the day

begins to end

we remain

on earth

this summer

evening –

sky without end

life begins

so many

times

we see

the same

world

what we do –

tomorrow sees

life –

behind you

shadows

of the poor

clouds

in slow

flight

a bird ascends –

to its

summer home

at dawn –

certainty

the moon –

among the

multitude

our life –

linked to every

other life

a shadow

falls

without sound

late afternoon –

night hides

in the shadows

daylight

forms around

each thing

waves

rush for

home

each day

appears – in the place

of the last

rivers

never

return

life moves

slowly –

as it passes

one

in three – just

once

faithful for

a day –

a shadow

life

claims our

attention

stars

follow us into our

rooms

without the sun

we see

more ancient things

night

knows

no end

the earth is

humanised

a monarch –

on a

flower

little

left of

yesterday

imperceptibly –

light

begins

in silence

stars

speak

weightless

as stars

our tiny

marks

in day

the sea

breaks on many

shores

life seems

too far

to cross

thinking

uncovers

again –

the edge

of day

birds fly

upon

the wind

bleak –

tomorrows

and tomorrows

my life –

somehow

all life

to be with you –

when you

might not have been

the surface

of water –

so thin

birds

hesitate

to land

beginnings –

in stars

parting from us –

the sun

and then the stars

each day

the lake catches

a face

we

disappear

into tomorrow

frailty

outlasts

the stars

autumn

moon –

adrift

sunrise

on the edge

of time
